ECMO- Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

The artificial respiratory/cardiac support device used for short-term support for patients with compromised organ function. A Certified Perfusionist, who is the ONLY board certified professional to run ECMO (bed side heart-lung machine), provides services including:

• Assist Surgeons in cannulation following device priming

• Initiate and terminated of ECMO

• Blood gas monitoring with corrective actions for correct Oxygen, Hct and blood management

• 24 hour bed side care 

• Monitoring, maintaining and responding to all events including change outs for safe ECMO support
